Revision - Propp's Character Theory

Propp's Character Theory

Vladmir Propp (b. 1895, d.1970) was a theorist who created a theory about characters who may appear in typical narratives.
His theory is old and may be outdated. Was not created based off of films/tv shows, but narratives in general.

Propp believes there are certain character types which pop up in most narratives.
Hero - character who goes on a quest
Villain- character who causes mischief/trouble
Damsel in Distress - person in need of saving by the hero
Helper - sidekick character
Dispatcher - sends the hero on their quest
Donor- donate/give something to the hero to help them on their quest
False hero - tries to be the hero but is a villain

We must be able to identify and work out if any of the characters in the text have been represented in a way which fits one of these Propp character types.
